The Medium

Charcoal on White

There is something elemental about charcoal. It strips a subject down to its essence — light and shadow, presence and absence, nothing more. No colour to distract, no embellishment to hide behind. What remains is honest.

Light is drawn from darkness, each stroke a deliberate act of revelation. The result is work that feels both ancient and modern — artefacts of simplicity that carry a timelessness few other media can achieve.

Every piece is made by hand, slowly and deliberately. There is no shortcut, no filter, no reproduction. Each work is singular — a one-of-one original created for the person who commissioned it.
